Get active for this year's edition of SXM DOET at Fort Amsterdam.
We need your help! In preparation for our tree planting event on May 17th, invasive plant species and trash need to be removed at Fort Amsterdam. By clearing all that originally is not supposed to be at Fort Amsterdam, and reintroducing native plant species that do belong here, we help improve the habitat of Sint Maarten's Brown Pelican.
Expect to learn more about this beautiful seabird, as well as the invasive and native plant species present on the island.
Note: as removing weeds requires physical labor, participants must be 15 years or older to join this event.
Details:
🗓️ Date: Friday, May 16th
📍 Location: Fort Amsterdam
⏰ Time: 08:00 am – 11:00 am
We’ll provide everything you need—snacks, refreshments, and equipment! Just bring:
👉 A refillable water bottle
👉 Sun protection
👉 Active clothing or gear and closed shoes
We look forward to seeing you at Fort Amsterdam - thank you for your support!
